Fourth Term Accomplishments
As I conclude my fourth term I thought it was important to say thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving the people of Hyde Park, Readville, Roslindale and Mattapan and to give you a brief overview of the work I have done these past few years.
As your City Councilor I was able to secure funding in the city budget for the rehabilitation of the Hyde Park and Roslindale Community Centers, the building of a new tot lot on Orlando Street in Mattapan as well as major improvements to the George Wright Golf Course. I also fought for the addition of two new police classes and additional funding for youth services.
Working with all of you I was able to achieve:
- K-8 expansion for the Roosevelt School in Hyde Park
- Secured the conservation and preservation of valuable green space in Hyde Park, Roslindale and Mattapan.
- Introduced “Shotspotter” technology to Boston as an innovative tool to help combat gun violence.
- Proposed and had implemented property tax relief for Senior Citizens in the City of Boston
- Led the fight for a complete re-zoning of Roslindale and Hyde Park to protect our neighborhoods from overdevelopment
- Championed environmentally friendly legislation before the Boston City Council
- Proposed new legislation to make Boston a more walkable city and to increase pedestrian safety.
- Appointed as a Trustee on the city-wide Neighborhood Housing Trust, which allocates millions of dollars for affordable housing in Boston.
- Authored legislation that holds mortgage companies, banks and financial institutions responsible for the maintenance of foreclosed properties. Foreclosure Ordinance.pdf
Moving forward as your City Councilor, during these difficult economic times, I will work hard to keep public safety, education and basic city services as my top priorities. I will continue to investigate the use of new technologies that will help the police and other city agencies work more efficiently. I look forward to working with you so that all of the people of District 5 get the services that they need and deserve.
Sincerely, Rob Consalvo |
