On Monday, May 18 Mayor Thomas M. Menino and City Councilor Rob Consalvo, both members representing the Hyde Park Lions Club District 33K, met with Boston Public Library Director Amy Ryan (far left) and Mattapan Branch Children’s Librarian Ann Langone to donate a Perkins Panda Early Literacy Kit to the new branch library. Perkins Panda Kits offer Braille literacy and learning to very young children who are blind or visually impaired.

“I am honored and excited to be re-appointed to the Neighborhood Housing Trust for the City of Boston,” said City Councilor Rob Consalvo.  “In this role, I will be able to continue to work in partnership with many worthy organizations as we attempt to provide more affordable housing opportunities in our City,” he said.

Since its inception, the Neighborhood Housing Trust has committed over $80,000,000 in linkage funds.  These funds have helped create or preserve 6,116 affordable housing units in 144 development projects throughout the City of Boston.

Earth Our Only Home, through an official resolution offered by City Councilor Rob Consalvo, on June 27, 2007, was recognized by the Boston City Council for our "tireless commitment to the building of green roofs throughout the city of Boston in an effort to aid in the reduction of global warming not only in our city but across the globe.
